Breeding Tassie Devils...

Hunter Valley Zoo is hoping to breed their pair of Tasmanian Devils in 2011.
Captive breeding programs are essential to the continued existance of Devils into the future. Without them wild population may become extinct in as few as 20 years due to the Devil Facial Tumour Disease that is decimating their numbers.
This unique cancer spreads through biting and has already seen an 80% drop in wild Devil numbers.
Hunter Valley Zoo will be contributing to the back up population of Tasmanian Devils and helping to maintain these native icons for future generations.
